Welcome

“Life is a journey, not a destination.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson

Hi Ya’ll, My name is Sara Kilgore and I got bit by the wanderlust bug at 10 years old. I traveled to Paris for three weeks for an exchange program where I lived with complete strangers in a beautiful country that I could not speak the language in. This is going to be a common theme of my life. While pursing my bachelor degree at West Virginia University, I did three study abroad in Barcelona, Cyprus, and Rome for three months each. While on these exchanges I explored the cities I lived without knowing the language and did weekend trips to neighboring countries. I was able to visit the breathtaking Petra, the coliseum became my backyard, and I was able to live in the only divided capital in the world. I decided to move to Bangkok Thailand to get my Master degree in International Relations. I feel in love in Asia while in Bangkok and I meet the love of my life, Ab. We explored the islands of southeast Asia, we moved to Kathmandu to try to build a life working in non-profit, and then we moved back to Ab home town of Guwahati in the Northeast part of India. We tried our hardest to make homes in Asia but the struggle of not speaking the language and work visa required us to move to my hometown in Richmond, VA. We finally were able to build a life there and had our beautiful daughter, Eleanor. We were a typical American family, struggling paycheck to paycheck, one big trip a year, and working jobs that paid our bills. Covid hit our family hard mentally and we lost our way or stopped. So at the end of 2023, we took a break from our life and escaped back to our family home in the North East. I decided to finally attempt to live my dream of wanderlust, use my skills of trip planning to make this website and try to make a life that involves family and traveling.

This website is a source of information on food, traveling, and life. I have been working in the restaurant business for 15 years and I am obsessed with eating. I think about what I am going to eat next while eating. I search google for the best restaurants and I will try a bite of anything at least once. I have been lucky to be able to eat over the fire and at fine dining establishments. I truly believe that food, eating, and cooking is the key to learning about a cultural. I want to include recipes to teach people about local favorites, I want to suggest restaurants for when you visit a city, and just talk about food. One of the main areas that I am going to discuss is the Northeast of India because it is a beautiful place and not many people have traveled here. Assam has a beautiful areas, amazing food, one horn rhinos, and welcoming people. I am going to make itineraries for cities that I visited and the best things to do. This site will show tips and struggles of figuring out traveling especially with a young child. I want my audience to fall in love with stepping off the plane and finding there next adventure. I want to be a source for people when they are little lost to use to make each day a little bit more interesting on their travels.
